Where the Mother Road meets community pride. This vibrant mural celebrates Springfield's place on historic Route 66 as the iconic highway marks its 100-year anniversary. Created by Missouri State University alumnus Meg Wagler, a pillar of Springfield's local art scene, the artwork captures the nostalgic spirit of America's roadside culture through warm sunset hues and vintage-inspired imagery. Silhouettes of friends sharing a Coke evoke timeless moments of connection—honoring Route 66's legacy while celebrating the community that calls it home.

The Artist

Meg Wagler

Meg Wagler is a visual artist and illustrator in the Midwest, USA known internationally for her colorful works, hand lettering, and message of self love. With a BFA in graphic design and illustration, Meg started her career as a designer and art director before establishing her solo career. Her work in agencies propelled her proclivity to work across several mediums and inspired her current work in mural installataions, fine art, editorial and surface design illustration.

This mural was in collaboration with the local Ozarks Coca‑Cola Bottling Company, the MSU Foundation, and Springfield’s Route 66 Centennial celebration. The artist, Meg Wagler, is an MSU alum that celebrated the magic of the MSU campus through this art piece. You can see iconic MSU imagery, the rolling hills of the Ozarks, and the classic Route 66 Sign. All centered around a cheers to the past, present, and future. The mural was debuted and celebrated during the Route 66 Centennial Parade of 2026.
