Water Stewardship in Ireland

In addition to The Coca‑Cola Company’s Global environmental goals, in Ireland, Coca‑Cola Ballina has been working towards implementing the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) standard. The standard aims to address five key water-related outcomes:

• Good Water Governance
• Sustainable Water Balance
• Good Water Quality Status
• Important Water-Related Areas
• Safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH)

In support of these outcomes Coca‑Cola Ballina has undertaken various initiatives promoting local water stewardship. The below are some examples of these efforts:

• Engagement and collaboration with local stakeholders and community members including Uisce Éireann, the local County Council, and others.
• Improvements in manufacturing and water use efficiency for the local site.
• Investments in wastewater treatment technologies to improve water quality and ensure compliance with our discharge criteria and improve quality of our receiving waters.
