Community Stories

My daughter Valerie has such a huge heart. Ever since she was very little she loved her crafts. She decided one year she was going to start making Christmas cards for people around the community. Last year she made 1,825 and this year just over 1,500!

Each year, more than 2500 volunteers band together to make sure no child is left behind at Christmas. With donation bins in over 200 local businesses, toys, books, and teddy bears are collected, sorted, packaged and delivered to over 20,000 kids each year. Creating a Christmas miracle and being one of Santas elves is just a part of being an Edmontonian.

I grow a decent garden full of tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots and peppers every year. I have started to donate some vegetables to the local resource centre in my neighbourhood, the Blake Gardens Resource Center. Residents can help themselves to fresh produce for no cost which helps the families with their grocery budgets and helps prevent my garden produce from going to waste.
